Root Question: Should i backup before rooting?

I use 2.2.1 , original. I never changed anything. Now i want to do only ( first) rooting to phone. Do i need to backup, is it risky?

no need man. You can do it if that will make you feel safer but.. i believe there is no risk (or very low percentage). It doesn't affect your personal info, cache or anything else. it just makes you the "administrator" or in linux world-ROOT...

if you flash a new ROM or Kernel, than you should make a backup, because you have to clear all the Cache (including dalvik cache)...
