Help Question - What is this circle icon??

This circle in the upper left corner has been driving me nuts. I can't figure out what it is. It goes away when I swipe my notification bar down. Anyone know?

Someone recently had the same issue, can't remember what the outcome was now but try a search :)
 
In that person's case it was a Google notification of an amber alert in the area.

I have a circle icon on my phone for SIPDroid, but you would probably know if it was that.
 
Yeah it's weird. It's not tied to anything. When it shows up I swipe the notification bar, and nothing appears in notifications, and the circle disappears.

Best guess is that it appears to be a placeholder, see Posts #5 and #11 ;)

Thanks for the posts. Neither really say what it's from, at least in my case. I don't have the app suggested in the second link. I'm going to dig some more to see what I can find.
 
My guess is that it is an app related notification, start with recently installed apps and go from there.

Start force closing apps running one by one until it goes away.
 
Looks like a location icon to me. Check your various permissions for disclosing your phone's location. Mine has the same icon with a wavy radiating from its right.
I have 3 choices under Location Services settings - Verizon, GPS, and Google. I can't remember which is what but if I turn off one, then my wavy goes away leaving only the sort of circular icon that started this thread.
 
All of my location serrings are off. Loaded up you tube and the circle appeared. Swiped my notification bar down circle disappeared. Went back to youtube, it reappeared.

My guess...it's a secret Samsung spyware app that's tracking my every move....ZOMG!!!! :P
