I hear/read a lot of people said that they have rooted their phones or that it is better to root you phone and so on.
What does it mean? To root your phone...

In fact if you click on 'android forums' above and then scroll down you will see a dedicated forum called all things root and then subsections for all the most popular android phones.

Rooting a phone is like getting admin access to the phone. :)

We try to be a friendly bunch as much as possible, feel free to ask any questions you may have!

Yup as Kelmar said, it gives your phone administrative privileges similar to jailbreak on an iPhone.

As a result, you can remove carrier/manufacturer apps, install custom firmware (if developers of your phone community are working on porting froyo for example), overclock your cpu, use certain apps which require superuser permissions, etc.

It does void your warranty so be careful.

Cool!!! What are the down sides of it? Only the warranty part?
I mean it's cool because I could uninstall all the crappy apps like Moxier...
How can I do it?
