Questions about high-capacity microsdhc cards

I've had the phone about a week and the 8GB card is filling up fast. I thought I'd get a 16GB or 32GB card. However, when I started shopping, I had questions.

First question: I see on all of the review sites (Amazon, Newegg, etc.) that what seems to me to be a lot of users say they bought a card that was either DOA, or worked only for a month or two. This seems to apply to what I think of as the "good" manufacturers as well as the ones I never heard of. Can those of you who have used larger-capacity cards tell me of your experience? Is 32GB "pushing the envelope", so that these cards might be less apt to be long-lasting than the 16GB cards? Also, if the card gave out on you, did it mess up the phone too, or were you able to solve the problem with a new card?

Second question: Newegg has a Transcend TS16GUSDHC10 (class 10) for only $1.00 more than the Class 6 for which they are out of stock, but Newegg makes no guarantee that what they sell will work in your device. Should I expect this card to work in my htc Inspire? The Transcend web site was no help.

Third, I also looked at Sandisk cards, such as the SDSDQ-0166-A11M, but I can't find anywhere what class their cards are. I plan to take videos and photos with the phone, so write speed probably matters. I couldn't even find the class rating on the Sandisk web site. I must not be looking in the right place?

Thank you for your assistance to a newbie!

I've used both Sandisk & Lexar 32GB cards, and never had any issues. As long as you're buying from a reputable seller, you shouldn't have any problems. Nor have I ever heard of any issues such as you describe -- I've been using microSDHC cards ever since the standard first came out and have never had a card fail. In particular, the Class 10 Lexar 32GB cards I bought from Newegg last winter have performed spectacularly.

Then again, I've run them on a HTC Tilt 2 (WinMo) and Samsung Galaxy SII (Android); the Inspire may be a bit fussier.

Avoid buying cards from eBay -- lots of them are fake, in that they'll be labeled as 32GB and advertise 32GB to the OS, but are actually much smaller. These fake cards are much more likely to demonstrate weird behavior.
