Questions about s2: installing ROMs & switching button functions

i have a galaxy s2 I9100G and i was wondering if i needed to check the kernel or any thing else if i wanted to install the s3 rom on my ICS updated S2?

and one more thing. is it possible to switch the functionality of the buttons in this device. i mean, could i do some thing that when i press the setting button the recent apps show up and when i hold the home button the setting options show up. you know. something like HTC one x. but GALAXYish.

The op has the G variant so those roms for the i9100 won't work. Compatible roms for the i9100g can be found here
