Questions...Incredible 2 or...

one1speed

Newbie
I currently am still using the original Droid Eris. It's a bit painful at times and we're close enough to our two-years to purchase a new phone. Finally...

However, there are many phones on the market, dual-core this, giant screened that, the iPhone, etc. When I went to the store recently to look around, the Incredible 2 really caught my attention, as the overall size and screen-size seemed about perfect. Many of the new devices are getting so huge, I'm just not a fan, after a point. This one fit perfectly in the hand, seemed pretty quick, etc.

Tough decision with all the 'super-phones' coming out. But I have to ask, how are you liking the Incredible 2? Still seems pretty quick and responsive? Does the lack of 4G seem an issue at all? (it is supported in my market)

Do you see any issues with it being supported and updated in the future? Will it get Ice Cream Sandwich next year? I realize it just came out in May, but this industry is going crazy as of late. And the Eris was forgotten about after a year or so as things moved on.

Just wondering of everyone's take, not trying to start any discussions over OSs or anything of the like. If you don't mind, I'd really appreciate anything you think is relavant to share.

Thank you in advance. So much to learn with the recent offerings.

I came from an Eris to the incredible 2. I had the same thoughts as you on the size and feel of the inc2. The device fits perfectly in the hand and pocket. It seems as snappy as any of the other phones in the Verizon store. 4g isn't a issue for me as we don't have it in my area. Bottom line is I love this phone and have zero regrets buying it.

Ditto for me. Lost my Eris in May and got the Incredible 2 in early June. It is so much more responsive than the Eris and touch screen sensitivity is great relative to the Eris (may have been overloaded processor in Eris). No buyers remorse here.

Thanks to you both, appreciate it. Do you have issues with the camera? I read a review that said it was pretty bad. Maybe there is an app work around?

Coming from an Eris myself I would say you would be very happy with an Incredible 2. The price (free) is right. BUT as with the Eris I wouldn't run it stock.

I came from an Eris as well. I've had no issues with the camera; it takes pretty good-quality pictures, and has additional camera features not found on the Eris (like a timer).
The Inc2 is a natural progression from the Eris. I'm very happy with it.

The Eris had a camera timer on the ROM I was running. My trackball was so stiff that I had to use the 2 second timer to get a decent picture.

The only problem I have with the camera is me...being old and shaky and attempting to hold a small device steady, which would apply to all cell phone cameras. Other than that, nice quality pictures.

I also had an Eris that drove me crazy. This phone does what the Eris was supposed to do, plus more. I think the camera is fine, and it has a flash which the Eris did not. I have read that the Inc2 will probably not get the Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade. But this phone is a good upgrade from the Eris without having to learn too many new things. Plus i couldn't justify the price of the Bionic or Droid 3 for my needs, even though those phones will probably get the upgrade. I have had the Inc2 for about a month now and i am very happy with it.

Another ex Eris owner here who thinks the DInc2 is the bee's knees. Loved my Eris, but between the processor and trackball not holding up I had to retire it. It is now a little media player.
The DInc2 is a wonderful balance of screen size, battery life, and speed. I don't need 4g, though I'm sure it would be nice. It would kill the battery though. I don't need a 5 inch screen. That would kill the battery. I don't need a quad core processor. That would kill the battery. Can you imagine all them together? You'd need a battery pack the size of a car battery.
I second bberryhill0 on root. Stock is fine. Great in fact. But the ROMs available for the DInc2 put the ones I used on my Eris to shame.
I'm having a great time with this phone, and I hope you do too.
