Questions on performance

I am an erstwhile WinPhone user (Lumia 820) who switched to Android (Xperia J) and is now deciding on a new smartphone.
I have narrowed down on the Moto G and the Lumia 730, tending towards the Moto G given the reviews, but have a couple of questions, appreciate any help.

1. My Xperia J (been close to 2 years) is super laggy and sluggish.
Is there a risk of the Moto G going the same way with time? (Never had such issues with my earlier Windows Phone, Lumia 820).

2. I constantly encounter issues while updating apps on my Xperia J - keep getting an error saying there is insufficient storage (though there actually is).
Uninstalling and reinstalling the latest version works fine. I read in forums that this is some Android bug - are there issues with updating apps in Moto G (or Android in general) with time?

My Android experience hasn't been great so far especially related to performance, updating apps etc.
So, I am wondering whether to give the Moto G a chance or revert to the smooth but highly app-deficient Lumia 730.

insufficient storage (though there actually is).

it's famous google play bug, though I didn't have it, lucky me. I have Samsung Galaxy Express 2.

personally my friends do have a lot of troubles with Sony phones. hardly I can say same about Samsung & LG users. Minor bugs that are easily fix-able. I'm not a Sony hater, wanted to get Xperia M but switched my choice

for me, Android have a super-navigation which is useful side of my phone. I wanted to get some Nokia, too, but when I got to know that there are small choice of phones with 1GB RAM (which are considerably more expensive than 512MB laggy monsters) & stupid navigation, gotta buy Android again...

Moto G... No card slot - that's holy LOL, then you are forced to get 16GB model, or you will have some storage issues, or gotta have very small amount of apps, no possibility to keep music collection, take a lot of pics & vids, have some games with big cache... that's shame for this phone... and no LTE.. non-removable battery.. I wouldn't give more than 150 EUR for such piece of...

my advice - 730 or another Android.

Thanks. It is just so hard to find an official answer for such bugs, the way you would find for say, an iPhone. That's what scares me when it comes to Android.
And Moto G 2014 does have SD card support - micro SD upto 32GB supported.

I just received my 2nd Gen. Moto G and Moto X via FedEx Friday, and I must say that the Moto G is well worth the money. Concerning the SD storage, I used a 64GB SD card and it picked up the storage card, so it does support larger SD cards. The phone comes out of the box with Android 4.4.4 which is the current version of the OS and will be upgraded to Android "L" or "Lollipop" in the coming months. I have not encountered the Google PlayStore bug, all my apps update just fine, my Moto G even asks me if I want to put supported apps to my SD card automatically. The phone is very snappy and have not experienced any slowdowns what so ever. Concerning the lack of LTE...who cares...I am using both Motos (G and X) on AT&T and you get HSPA+ 21Mbps on the Moto G which I average around 8-11Mbps over HSPA+ on AT&T's network, that plenty fast and faster than some LTE networks in places. All in all great device at an affordable price!
