Brand new to the spectrum not new to android phones. Im wondering if im missing something but is there a way to change all text to t9 ? Looked through all settings only alternative I can find is swype. Im stuck on t9 and would rather use it and having a hard time adjusting to qwerty style keyboard

Is root for me? Only good I see out of root is to maybe get wifi tether and maybe do some tweaking to help it perform better and battery life. I USB tether now and its working fine for me but would I benefit any by doing a root on my phone? I really dont understand what the purpose is but wouldnt mind getting rid of verizon's stock app crap.

Big thanks !

Battery life improvements and removing all the verizon and lg stock crap will do wonders for the phone. There are around 60 things that can be froze in TB right now that i have found. i would say root it you can always go back to stock if you want.

BIG emphasis on FREEZE, not remove. Freeze stock apps, but don't remove them, because you can't take OTA updates with missing stock apps.

But yes, rooting this phone will extend your battery life by 5+ hours. I easily got 36hrs on minimal use after rooting; before rooting it was more like 9 hrs (changing to Conservative governor helps too).

Ok, so you assert root, but you don't change the rom. Then you use some util to Freeze the app so it isn't loaded into memory nor consumes cycles right?

Can you be a bit more specific?

And when you say your battery life improves, do you mean you got that mainly from freezing this stuff, or are you just saying changing to Conservative brought the most benefit?

Sorry - if there are utils or posts on doing this - can you point me to them? Thanks.

Yes, root, then freeze apps you don't use, like the bloatware. Some of those apps are constantly in ram and worse, updating, even if you never open them. So when you freeze the apps like nfl and sync service, your phone is more apt to remain in standby. Then, if you have an app like rom toolbox, you can change the governor to 'conservative' from 'on demand'. It's under cpu tweaks. The conservative gov is far better for longer standby users and conserves resources by not ramping to max when the phone is used, which on demand can do.
