Quick Note question

Would it be safe to assume that any Galaxy Note you buy in the US "new" would be the LTE model? I am considering getting one once my Sprint contract is up in 2 weeks.

No, not safe to assume.

Find out out if it's i717 or N7000.

The former is the North American version with LTE radio, the latter is International with no LTE radio but with exynos processor. However, both can be purchased new in the US.

So if I were looking for a subsidized ATT phone, could I request the international version?

I've heard that the HSPA (?) network is quite fast enough for routine surfing/audio streaming and that LTE drains the battery very quickly.

Assumptions:

3G will be around for at least 2 years

LTE drains batteries more quickly than 3G

ATTs network is sufficient for audio streaming ( major twit.tv addict!)

if it explicitly declares it to have a 1yr manufacturer warranty, then it's an i717. If it has a 30-90 warranty through the seller, then it's most likely a N7000.

only the i717 LTE is subsidized. I have 2. Wish I had gotten the N7000. You dont need LTE for satisfactory streaming. I'm in a non LTE market and quite happy with data speeds. In fact, with streaming, I'd worry that I'd hit my data cap faster with LTE. like right away. I'm sort of content with HSPA+ in that with all my streaming, I end up at or near my plan's cap. Not sure how I'll manage that with LTE.

Not sure about battery life, it's much better than my SGS2 (after the wifi battery drain bug).
