Quick Office on Desire crashing on first document open

I have Quick Office v3.2.75 installed on my HTC Desire - which is the free version that came installed with it when I bought it last year. I note I'm never offered upgrades to this, and as of past couple of months whenever I open a Word or Excel doc on the phone, on 1st attempt Quickoffice always crashes. On 2nd attempt it opens OK. So my questions are:


  1. Is this a known bug and is there a workaround?
  2. Is there a way I can upgrade my installed version of Quickoffice without having to pay? :p

QuickOffice is a paid application. It was installed on your phone's system partition (which is read-only), so you couldn't update it.

You can try to go to Settings - Applications - Manage Applications, find it in the list and clear data.
