Root quick question before flash......

I have settled on flashing Fasty 2.5 using CWM so I don't have to mess with bootloaders yet and I figured it would be the smartest way, plus I may just wait for the official 2.3 then I don't have to mess with them at all. My question is do I need to remove my external SD and sim prior to flash or does it even matter? I ask because no guides say one way or the other and I have been reading for four days now LOL!

This is the last question in my mind before I hit go I have my Nandroid made of Stock rooted and a titanium back up as well.

I have seen vids that say to do so and I did the first time I flashed, but after that I just them in my phone(too lazy to take them out). Either way is fine, all my files remained unchanged on my ext SD and sim.
