Help Quick question N7

Just got the N7 for the wife to test out, she notices when the screen is off for a while in sleep mode, and she hits the power button to wake it up it does not wake up right away, she sometimes has to do it 2 or 3 times, or it won't wake at all and then she has to hold the power button down, then when it wakes up, she has to back out to get out of powering down. Is this normal.
 
Well the only way I am able to get her screen to wake up, is to plug in the charger, I guess when it updated today to 4.1.1 it did something to the wake with the power button. I guess I should of done a FR right after that, lets see if this resolves the issue, damn and U had just finished setting the whole Tab up for her, LOL. Back to work before she sees I FR.
 
Well looks like it is going back tomorrow. Still doing the same thing. Will get another one, any suggestions before I take it back. Just what I needed after trying to convince her this unit is better, I won't hear the end of it, LOL
 
I just got mine week ago and that hasn't ever happened to me. Might just be a defective unit. Did you order it from Google or buy it in a store? I got mine from Staples. I tend to trust in-store pickup over shipping from who-knows-where.
 
Sounds like you are pressing it too long ... its a really quick press to wake it up... it should wake up in about half a second.
 
This is not my first rodeo, LOL I am not pressing it too long, I have tried quick, long and all of the above the power button does not do anything anymore. It worked fine when I first got it, then as soon as I did the 4.1.1 update it stopped working. The only way to get the screen to wake up is if I plug in the charger as mentioned then I can unlock it. I first thought it might be an app that I installed, but that is not the case since I did a FR and it is still doing the same thing. So I will take it back to Staples, which is where I bought it, for the same reason, if I have an issue I can take it back and replace it with no issues. ;)
 
One possible solution (other than sending it back) would be to try a smart cover which turns the screen on and off by opening/closing.

One of my N7's had a similar issue and would often take 2 or 3 attempts to wake up (not all the time though), I returned it for other reasons and the replacement has never had the problem.
 
I have not thought of that, but I will not keep it if the power button does not work, I will go to Stapled today and swap it out, if there is no solution, no big deal, it happens.

OK, picked up a new one this morning, will test this one out, I did the update out of the box and will test it before add any apps, LOL. Of course as soon as I got to Staples it work a few times, lol

What eBook reader are you guys using, I downloaded Aldiko, seems fine any suggestions, the wife has a bunch of eBooks that she wants me to transfer.
 
Don there have been quite a few who needed replacement models. I've been fine with the one I have, but hopefully your replacement works great. :)

I use Aldiko and I find it works very well. It gets a bit clunky if you have hundreds of books, but I keep all my ebooks on my server and normally only have a dozen or so on the Nexus.

If you need to read PDFs try ezPDF Reader. For DJVU format (normally only technical books) I use Orion Viewer, and just to complete the set for comics I use Comic Rack.
 
Yep already download that app and got it working for her already, I also tried another one that seems pretty neat called, Cool reader, works good also

Are you kidding me, still convincing her to take the Kindle Fire back, good thing is she saw a show talking about the new Kindles out soon. So I got her hooked to the nexus now. She will take it to work today and finish reading her book she bought from amazon. Once she gives me the OK, then I will order her a smart cover. Then I will take the Fire back to BB. After showing her all the stuff the N7 does and numerous youtube reviews I think she's got it. If it were me it would have been rooted out of the box, :D;)

Done deal, she is choosing the N7, already ordered a Smart case for her, Fire going back today.

The Kindle app works fine on the Nexus of course ...
 
I notice the unit is a week old and I was playing with it and the touch screen is not as responsive, having to press harder and sometimes not even working, anyone else having this issue, I may go get the 16 GB tomorrow anyways, but just curious. :confused: Maybe will go wash the hands and see of that is the issue because they seem shiny LOL


EDIT: Yep hands were to shiny and slippery, washed them and all is good, lol
