Root Quick Question

I've shuffled through a couple of ROM's and sometimes after I install the update.zip, the ROM installs but as it's rebooting the phone seems to give up during the bootanimation and it shuts off and I have to do a battery pull.

Am I doing something wrong or is this normal?

on new installs of diff roms I usually do a battery pull on first bootup, some people wait it out and that probably is better for the system but I havent had any issues. It seems first boot is always the longest

It might be when the sdcard is trying to initialize. Under settings - notification ringtone do you have a stock tone set or one from the SDcard?
