Quick question

So I just received a galaxy nexus for sprint as a gift. My uncle got the Galaxy SIII so he just gave me his old Nexus. I don't feel like setting up a contract so I want to stick with my virgin mobile. Is there any way to activate my Galaxy Nexus with Virgin or should I just get a contract?

Well this nexus was for the sprint network so It's also CDMA (no sim) and since Virgin Mobile USA is under the sprint network I was thinking maybe there's a way to activate it with VM USA. Idk.

There is no "official" way to do that. The official answer is you need to buy a Virgin Mobile branded handset from VM USA or one of its retail partners.

To use a Sprint branded handset on a VM USA plan, you would have to make modifications to the phone on your own and I don't think the rules of this forum allow discussion of what is involved in a project like that.

No. You can't. The Sprint Gnex will only work with Sprint, even though VM USA is a subsidiary of Sprint. The only way to do that... well, it's a federal crime. We're not permitted to discuss it here on Android Forums.

If you want to use the Gnex on a prepaid service, purchase the Gnex HSPA+ (this one is GSM) for $349.99 from Google Play. You can then use it on the prepaid plans at T-Mobile.

Okay thanks for the information guys. I had no idea that it was so illegal lol. My bad. Anyways I guess I'll just save it or something.
