Root Quick questions about rooting help.

Hello I have a tmo 4g slide that more than likely has the new hboot version.
Question 1: Can I still get my phone rooted?
Question 2: I dont want custom rom, all I want to do is to be able to delete the factory apps that are hoggin my memory. can I just turn s-off and be able to do this?
Question 3: Does turning s-off involve a actory reset etc?
Question 4: Does getting the s-off make the phone have the problems come up that I have been reading about... the battery life issues etc?
Question 5: Is s-off permanent? Would I be able to turn it back on for warranty issues?
Question 6: What happens when the phone needs an update? Do I have to put back the factory apps before doing the update?
Basically what I want is to be able to delete the memory hog apps and still have the factory OS installed. If someone can answer these questions for me it will be greatly appreciated.

you don't even need S-OFF to root and debloat your system. assuming you have the newest hboot(1.45.0013), you just need to unlock your bootloader with the official HTC tool. but yes, this WILL factory reset the device.

once your bootloader is unlooked, you can use ClockworkMod recovery to flash Superuser, and then you will have root access on the stock ROM, and be free to freeze/uninstall bloat, etc.

there is a chance this device won't see any more updates, so that might not be an issue, but if it does, i personally always flash back to pure stock to do the update. one way or another you have to unroot to do official updates.
