Quick send for Gmail contact

Does anyone know how:

I want to do a quick shortcut to email address in gmail so the contact is on the main screen like any cut ... for gmail.

Or is there an application that can do this???

I understand why Google wouldn't want it, cuts out SMS useage, but couldn't someone come up with an app at the very least?

I think someone mentioned in the "I got updated to 1.6" thread that you can do this now.
