Quick Tip: Settings > Storage > Make More Space

EDIT:

As boomer_jmoore pointed out below, the steps I mention here erased everything in my "Music" folder. Guess it's not such a great cleanup app after all. Thanks HTC! (sarcasm)

Not sure if this is a well known thing about Sense phones or if I just have a strange issue.

I was farting around with my phone last night after some apps failed to install. I had plenty of space both on the internal memory as well as on the 32GB SD Card.

So under Settings > Storage I see an option called Make More Space. There is an option under both types of storage. I click on the SD Card and the top option is "Temporary files from HTC apps" and it's over a whopping 4 GB of space! I cleared it out and now have more precious space to fill with junk.

But what the heck could be taking up this much space? I can't imagine what temp files would keep accumulating to this size. If someone only has a 2 or 4GB card, does it get filled up by HTC garbage?

Anyway, just wanted to let people know that if they're running low on space that you can clear some up this way. You can also easily clear caches of rarely used apps under the internal storage options.

Sometimes it reads your music files as temporary files so be careful when trying to delete it. Make sure you didn't lose anything cause I almost did.

Haha, you're right, music: gone!

Luckily I can just copy it all back. But what a horrible cleanup app, why would they include something like that on your phone? It doesn't tell you what it's cleaning up, and music is certainly far from temporary files from HTC apps.

Thanks for the heads up.

It only deletes it if u have it in a "Music" folder if it is in "My Music" it won't delete it or maybe it was just this one time it didn't delete it wheen I just did this

Yeah, I have other MP3 files that are in other folders that were not deleted. Still doesn't make any sense (see what I did there?) that the cleanup app would think the Music folder is temp HTC files.
