I've seen other threads where they mention that you need a rooted phone to use a BT keyboard. Something to do with needing the BT HID profile (see ... HID ... ).

Personally I've installed ... ShareKeyboard: Connect Your PC Keyboard To Android via Wi-Fi ... Can't be ar5ed to take a keyboard out and about with me so the main use is at home - where I have my PC so why not make use of it?
