Why is the portrait qwerty so hard to type on?
The iPhone one is so easy compared to this.

Are you using the standard se one?
If so then try the default android keyboard as it is better or search the market for shape writer (I think its called) or there is a apk file to install the htc keyboard but you will have to find it and then get an app from the market that lets you install apk files.

Also make sure you have up to date firmware. The standard one got better after the latest updates. I switch between the HTC and the Standard one on the phone depending what mood I'm in (some days I seem to have a very non capacitive index finger - go figure!?)

Did you install the calibration app for that? With this installed it becomes verry smooth to use. It can be found easily on the XDA forum. Try that before going else were for your typeing needs. If after that it is still unsatisfactory start exparimenting with market keyboard replacements. I myself have found TouchPal. All tho its a china built app it is of a very fine build and quality I have found it to be the perfect replacement.
I am using the HTC keyboard currently. I just don't find it very accurate
did you install the clicker and the keys?
i've been using it for a the last couple of days it is SO so much better than the crap 1 SE made.. some of these xda guys should have the se muppets jobs as they seem to do things much better with less money and tools

I installed the HTC Mod for my x10, and what I do now is do the Compact Qwerty keyboard with T9 predict on while in portrait mode (easier to type) and then for landscape, no T9 prediction. Then I reskinned it with the custom HTC keyboard link from from a previous thread so now it looks purrrrdy!

Was that via XDA Gimpsta's site? It's pretty cool. I redid mine having had the same one for a couple of months, just to ring the changes and to blend in with my new wallpaper.
The calibration tool was in Menu>Settings>Locale & Text>HTC_IME Mod settings>Text Input then scroll to bottom.
yeah the gimpsta site is pretty neat.. i saw 1 there from you too suze..

Ya It's mint. Love having that uniqueness to my x10.
I use black buttons, blue letters and white numbers.
Mainly based off the nexus one i think on gimspta's site.

Lol, got a background of red roses (!) with a single white one in the middle and cos I use handcent quick reply loads the keyboard now pops up in red to blend in
