Help QWERTY keyboard

I have just bought a new device and set the phone to use English(UK) and everything is as I would expect in English, however the stock HTC keyboard is displaying the 'German' layout with the Y and Z transposed. I have tried every to change this to a standard qwerty keyboard layout.
Under settings there is no International keyboard setting. I have ended up installing a Touchpal keyboard and that now displays a qwerty keyboard..
Any help or advice would be greatly accepted.

Swiftkey is also another superb keyboard
