qwerty?

My wife needs a new phone. She has a samsung intercept which is as useful as a rock. She only uses her phone for FB and texting. So, no need for rooting or anything like that. However, she can't live without a physical keyboard. Are there any good qwerty phones left out there. ?

Depending what carrier your on, if t mobile without the phone being completely out dated. T mobile has the mytouch series which is mostly qwerty keyboard phones.

I admit I don't hate the slide out QWERTY keyboards. But there is a mere fraction left out there.

Besides checking your carrier, you can also usually sort things pretty easily on the manufacturer's websites. HTC I think has one or more. And a pretty good rumor Motorola is about to release one.

Yes I read about motorola. But does t mobile have them. I will check. I just don't want to go thru the hassle of buying a better phone w a carrier I don't want. Then have to unlock and switch carriers. As my name suggests it'll take me forever to figure it out. Lol...but thanks for confirming motorola..

Yes, and I'm actually selling one (ask Bob Cat). I've been dealing with the mods unable to upload pictures to the classifieds section. I have a BRAND NEW AND SEALED, Kyocera (used to be Sanyo) Rise. It has Ice Cream Sandwich, wifi, slide out qwerty with a 3.5" screen. I just bought it and a Kyocera Event (which is the SAME as the Rise without the keyboard) for my wife and I. I opened and used the Event about a week before I decided I needed a larger screen (for my eyesight), and you have Virgin... while service was great, phone selection was blah... I ended up going to T-Mobile on contract to get a discounted Galaxy... This was before my wife swapped over from her Samsung Intercept.

Needless to say, the Event I used (same internally as the Rise with keyboard), worked very well. Was much faster than my LG Optimus V and my wife's Intercept. (I am selling all 4 of these; the intercept, optimus v, Event and Rise too if you need/want more than one). The Event sells for $60 new and the Rise is $80 plus tax new online or in stores... give or take a few bucks or sale week.

Feel free to PM me... make an offer, etc. I can send pics, esn to verify, etc.

Also, just FYI from someone with first hand knowledge... Virgin DOES NOT allow devices/handsets from other carriers... unlocked, flashed or not. I've tried many times. They are very thorough checking the origin of a phone you try to activate, and if it didn't come from Virgin, they don't allow it. I found out the hard way. They won't even take a Sprint device and they are owned by Sprint. That is THE reason I really left... to get a nice new, large screen phone the cheapest way possible, and that was only through a contract plan with a discounted handset. Some people have been lucky, or had the knowledge to "trick" Virgin into activating a different phone. I'm sure however they did it was either "illegal" by cloning or something, or they work for them or know someone who does... there is even a recent "press release" from Virgin online being linked to everywhere, saying as of July/2013 or something that they allow BYOD now. Its not true, I called them on that as well, emailed the rep the website, and she told me it wasn't true. It stinks, because in my opinion, that is the ONE THING that is keeping them from being the BEST carrier/provider (I. MY EYES).

Just hoping by telling you this I can save someone else and you from possibly making a very costly mistake that I've personally made, and spent a LOT of time pursuing...
