R2D2 sent as insurance replacement?!??

So, my droid 1 had to replaced because my speaker stopped working. I was very upset to hear that assuron could not offer me a replacement droid 1 or even a droid incredible, but offered me only the droid 2. I really like my droid 1 and its unlocked bootloader and the TON of roms/themes/kernals etc for it.

My replacement arrived today while at work and when i got home i decided to open it up and activate. Much to my surprise i find the box to say "Droid r2-d2". They TOLD me they were sending a droid 2 global, after i complained for a little bit about the droid 2 (non global), but i actually got an R2D2.

has this happened to anyone else? am i really lucky? I was almost looking forward to the 1.2ghz in the D2G

I plan on keeping the phone stock for a few days to get a baseline before Rooting, which will give me a few days to read over the root/rom process. Any suggestions on a ROM?
 
Beauty. I have the R2D2D2 and love it. With the ability to overclock, the 1.2 processor is not missed in the slightest. And for the trade off of having a limited run Droid instead.. Well, i'd say you lucked out for sure!

Thats kind of what i was thinking. It's a little geeky looking though and i use it for work. But it is honestly a cool thing. What is the max frequency you can overclock to on this thing anyways?
 
Dang, you're a lucky guy. I would normally say check out the Droid 2 root section but it looks like you're already ahead of the game.

Some of your R2D2 root specific questions may be tough to find answers for so you may need to supplement this forum with some XDAing.

i would keep it and thank my lucky stars! that is an awesome AWESOME phone! i drool over it everytime i go to the store! ^_^ i got the droid 2 just to save $100. get a clear case and let all of us drool over it!
 
I have it and I don't have any problems in that department. Guys tend to like married women because they don't have to keep 'em.

The only thing is, I can barely handle the one I've got, what am I gonna do with another!?

Yea, my girlfriend said if I had this phone when we met she woukd definately not stuck around to look at all the super sweet live wall papers...lol
 
Just activate normal ringtones and notifications and your business will not suffer...unless you are in tech, then keep it all :D

I believe with the JRummy overclock (what I have) you can go to 1.4

I have mine at low voltage, 1.3 and not a hiccup in sight. Infact, I think my battery life has improved since running it.

Edit: Acutally 1.45 is the max.
 
Very lucky guy... If the looks are a bit much for the office, just get the Verizon holster case (3 piece)... Still looks nice, and only you know the geek device that lays underneath.... I have to use those covers anyway for work, so works perfect...
