Radio / Antenna

I consistently get 4 bars LTE at work and 2 or 3 at home on Sprint, so the radio seems to work fine for me. :hmmmm:

It's -93 dBm at the moment at home. I don't have another device to compare it to on the same Sprint network, unfortunately. I know I get much better connection than my coworkers who are mostly on Verizon. They're usually 1 to 3 bars 3G at work, and sometimes 1 bar LTE.

...

Oh, also, Wi-Fi on my Nexus 5 seems to work as well or better than other devices for me on both my home Wi-Fi as well as other places, including my Nexus 7, laptop, and other peoples' phones.

I usually don't use Wi-Fi on it though since I generally get a great or fairly good LTE signal and have unlimited data.

How about when i have full bars of every signal showing and yet i CANNOT make a call. This is a joke.I've restarted my phone and still the same issue. This is the reason the Nexus 5 and the Nexus 4 really pee me off.
I just want to make a simple calllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll

Could it have something to do with the carrier?
Having full bars and not being able to make a call is uncommon

Yeah, I'd say that's pretty likely, and it may just be a local infrastructure issue.

You can get good transceiver reception with a tower, but still have slow/poor performance based on allocated bandwidth, throttling, network inconsistencies, etc.

But then again, it could be an issue with the phones themselves, and they just have really bad luck getting two lemons in a row, or maybe they share a 3rd party app. with a self destruct mode.

...

As you might have guessed by my previous post, I've had no dropped calls, nor inability to make calls, so I'm fairly certain it isn't a general issue with Nexus phones.

I spoke to Vodafone yesterday and all they could come up with was to change my settings to 2g which seems a bit useless when i bought a 3g phone.I can't comment on comments above as it's beyond my technical prowess.
I do try to learn a bit from time to time but at the end of the day i just want, need my phone to work when i need it to work.
WIFI: At home i have a router and my phone can 1 bar or 3 bars but at times i can't get connected. There is nothing wrong with the router as far as i know as my wife doesn't have a problem connecting when i do.
Any idea's as to why this is.

The N5 supports only a subset of the LTE channels. Your carrier might not be using those supported, and thus you get poor reception or HSPA 3G in locations where the other phones get channels that are stronger.

Why does this surprise you?
