Been listening to the dubstep online radio app, and notice my phone starts getting warm when I do. Doesn't seem to be very memory intensive or seem to slow the phone down, should I be concerned?

Are you using the cellular data or the wifi for playing the app?

The CPU governor settings on your RAZR MAXX are probably 104 degrees and 113 degrees (40 degrees C and 45 degrees C).
At 104 degrees the governor throttles back CPU performance.
At 113 degrees the governor throttles the CPU back further.
At some point above 113 you get "overheat" warning messages, then at some point the phone goes into "cooldown mode" to prevent damage. The phone shuts off and won't restart until it has cooled down.
Heat destroys electronic equipment. The hotter the equipment runs the faster it ages.

You can also manually cool your phone down. I get the same thing when I'm at work streaming music (via Rhapsody usually) for 8 hours while texting, making chess moves, or surfing. When I notice the phone heating up I'll just set it down on a cool surface for a few minutes and it cools right down. I use the inspection granite which makes for the perfect heat sink at it is always very cool to the touch. I have yet to run into the warning message.
Different programs can cause the CPU to go into overdrive and create a lot of heat quickly. The usual ones you would think of - like games with a lot of graphics - do so but occasionally one without any graphics will do so. A week back I put two new programs on my phone - Go SMS Pro and SMS Backup +. I only played with Go SMS Pro for a few minutes and then had to run to the store. When I came out of the store about a half hour later and pulled my phone out of my pocket, it was as hot as I'd ever felt it! But I hadn't been doing anything for the whole time. Since I had just installed the two programs I uninstalled both (assuming one or the other - or both might be causing the issue). I cooled the phone down manually and it stayed cool. I then re-installed SMS Backup + only since I liked that program and I didn't care for Go SMS Pro and the phone did not heat back up.
Why Go SMS Pro caused the phone's CPU to go into overdrive I do not know. It is a popular program used by thousands. I'm sure it was just one of those things. Keep an eye on your phone when you use that program. Does it heat up all the time or maybe in conjunction with something else? A little heat is to be expected. But a radio streaming music with the screen off should not create a lot of heat. And as the other poster said, a lot of heat is very bad.

Its dubstep online, and i only notice it with this app. Never happens when i listen to slacker. Its also draining my battery pretty quick as well. It sucks because i love the app, but i too listen to radio all day at work and normally my phone will last 3/4 of a day with no charging if i just listen to slacker. This app is cutting my battery in half. Maybe its too data intensive.
Are you possibly running a task killer where it is killing the task in question and it is being restarted? Going through this kill/restart constantly can cause this kind of problem.
(I have NOT tried it on the app you mentioned.)
