RAM and BSOD

I've been getting BSODs lately but it is only when I'm running two sticks of RAM. I've checked my timings and they're right and it is the right type of RAM for the motherboard. I've ran memtest before and it found an error so I removed one stick and tested each stick and it found none. I tested again with both sticks in and again no errors. Whenever I get a BSOD the computer will not even POST and the DRAM light on the motherboard will be red. Whenever I remove one stick from either slot it will boot up and have no problems.

Any advice on what to do? By the way, this is a custom built desktop.

Are your two sticks of RAM matched? That is same make, capacity, model, timings and batch? BSODs and instability problems can be caused by using RAM sticks which are not matched to each other. They will work on their own, but wont work together properly.

Also exceeding the mainboard's RAM capacity will cause trouble as well. E.g. putting two 4GB sticks into a board which can only handle 4GB RAM maximum.

My board can support up to 16GB or 24GB RAM and it's the same RAM, same speed, same timings, etc. They came in the same package.
have you checked for an updated BIOS for your mobo?
As far as updating the BIOS, I went to ASUS web site and I couldn't get their BIOS updater to work.

Is your mobo new?

Could be a faulty slot in the motherboard.

When you removed the sticks did you try them both in the same ramslot?

I bought all the components in August or September. I just got a BSOD on the other slot. I'm running Memtest all night and going to see what it comes up with.

Earlier you said it did not matter which slot the RAM was in, so that should rule out the slot.

Something is definitely out of whack here, what size PSU do you have and what peripherals do you have installed?

might sound simple but are the sticks going in the matching slots? some boards its slot 1 and 2, 1 and 3, etc..check the manual.

would also help if you listed which mobo and which ram you have...

Is the voltage set correctly for the RAM? Check the modules or the manufacturer's support site for the correct specs. As noted, details of the RAM & motherboard would also be helpful.

Well I thought that slot was alright but I didn't test it as much as I did the other slot. The other slot I used as I normally would for a couple weeks and no BSODs. I just tested the other slot for a day and ran Memtest on it. I did Memtest it again overnight for nine and half hours and no errors.

Here's the three BSODs I've gotten from running on the one slot I suspect to be bad:

I have 2GB of G.Skill DDR2 800 and a AMD Athlon 64 X2 (Brisbane) and have had zero problems in the two years I've had them.

G.Skill have a lifetime warranty. I know it's a dumb question, but have you RMA'd them for another set?

This error is caused by the ATI Catalyst Control Center, I would try to uninstall it completely and just install the individual driver from ATI without the Control Center.
