Help RAM Optimization for Samsung Galaxy Ace

HI,
My ACE always using the RAM as 222/278. Facebook, messenger, avast, swiftkey (huge apps) and few other small apps runs behind. Using the samsung launcher only. How to free up the ram usage?

In my opinion you must release memory this is a fix for awhile like through the app airdroid open the app select device and hit release memory
my i suggest you getting rid of avast unless your doing a lot of file downloads or etc...

there are lots of spywares and malwares spreading for android mobiles.. So i wanna use avast. When I reboot my mobile my RAM will be like 180/278 but it slowly increases and touches 220 and stays there forever.

use advanced task killer..it will clear ur cel frm al d unwntd apps dat r on n save a lot of ram...keep the task killer on automatic cleanin mode

do not use task killers!! Let android manage its own memory. It has been more than capable of doing this since 2.2.1. I am thinking your getting this ram usage figure from the task widget - have a look at settings > applications > running services and see what the actual mem usage is. The task widget includes apps cached into memory (ie not running but ready to be used) if you close these - when called on it will take longer (and more cpu + battery) to reload them.

Even though you notice the RAM usage high it doesnt mean you will have problems running the apps. It will open close apps as needed and self manage.

if you do this android will just reopen all it needs and uses anyway!

You said ace has a 278mb ram but my device shows 290mb of ram after 2.3.6 update. It does mean there must be more inbuilt ram in our device.

It has 512mb of ram. The OS uses quite a bit to run hence the amount available is less, I.e.290mb

The most accurate is on the settings menu > Applications > Running Services

The task manager widget amount includes cached (not running) apps

Never use task killers, they are pointless on android phones. Our phones do not run like PC's, Android is basically a version of linux.

I'll post a link to an article that explains it, .....if i can find it
