Help RAM usage

When I bought this phone, I thought I will get 512 MB of RAM, but here I am with 339 MB RAM. I use 2.2.1, JPY version...
Worse, phone uses 260 MB of 339 MBs. When I choose to kill all programs, it closes 10 apps and still uses 210 MB. How can this happen?
What can I do about that? Everything gets laggy because of that thing. That's not fair.
I mean, it's not fair it says "512 MB RAM" but it provides 339 MB, and it's not fair that it uses at least 200 MB of 339 MB.

Is this happening to all, or just me? If it's just me, what can I do about that? Because I don't have much free RAM, some games and some heavy apps take forever to load...
So please show me the way.

The Android operating system uses your missing portion of memory, it`s totally normal, you dont need to worry about running out of ram memory as the android os will close any unused program if it needs more ram memory, you mobile will run faster by keeping frequently used programs in the ram memory instead of having to keep loading them from the considerably slower flash memory.

Yeah yeah, I know these all.
But please someone tell this to my phone too. It is lagging. And this wasn't happening when I was using 2.2...

So considering that RAM issue is normal, so why is my phone lagging so much? People say they experienced better performance with 2.2.1 JPY.
Am I the only one who gets worse performance? Am I so unlucky? :)

When I upgraded to Froyo, it lagged like hell without a lagfix. But it got a LOT smoother after upgrading to JPY, which seems to be the opposite of what you are experiencing.

Have you tried doing a factory reset?

Yeah, I am telling this. Everyone but me got better phones :)
I wiped data, formatted sd cards, did factory reset. No use. Maybe something's wrong with my back ups. I don't know.
I backed up my my apps with data, not without data. Can this be the case?

Turn your phone on & off every so often

I couldn't understand how this will help me. Turning it on and off sometimes, what will this change?

I appreciate your helps people. Having 'so called' the fastest phone but experience slowness sucks, but having help on this is good :D
