Root Random Bell Sounding Notification Sound

I have a root-ed bionic that was recently upgraded to ICS. At random times through the day, I hear a notification tone that sounds like a bell. Nothing shows up on the notification bar and I see nothing change on the phone.

Anyone have an idea on what this is? I have shut off the Emergency alerts and any type of weather alerts.
 
Hmmm, might be a battery alert? Although that should also put up a notification. Probably, your best bet is to go through and see what apps you have that have the ability to create notifications. Something is there doing that on your phone.
 
Its not the battery because it happens at very random battery levels, and the battery app i have running, Circle Battery Widget, just changes colors are certain levels, it doesnt make a sound. I might have to go through all the apps on the phone.

Is no one else experiencing this?
 
My eBay app gives me notifications for ending auctions and what-not. But I think it also gives me an icon in the notification bar. Nothing else comes to mind.
 
I think it turns out it was Yahoo mail. I had all notifications turned off, which is why nothing was showing up in the notification bar, but for some reason the sound would still go off.

I just discovered this, and the sound selected in the app matched the sound I was hearing, so I am really hoping this fixes the issue.

The strange thing is that I was only hearing maybe 5 times a day and I get way more emails in that account per day. I only use that account for websites, so I get a lot of spam in the inbox. I happened to be logged into the account on my PC and an email came in, and the sounds went off. pretty weird.

FWIW, this is the second time that I have read the same about the Yahoo mail app. I'm making a mental note...
 
I do get notifications when I hear the doorbell sound from Yahoo Mail. But, I have noticed that I do not always get immediate notifications of incoming mail, despite the fact that I have the sync interval set to push. Could explain why you are getting less doorbell alerts than actual e-mails.

Funny that turning off notifications does not turn off the sound
