Help random rebooting

Ever since the update to android 4.2.2, mutt probe had been acting strangely. When i try to unlock the phone, it will occasionally reboot for no apparent reason. I suspect that some background application it's causing the reboot problem because it done happen in safe mode. Is anybody else grabbing this problem, and dies anybody have suggestions on what to do besides a total reset?

Got mine yesterday, no issues at all throughout the day, rooted to CleanROM last night to rid of bloat, and still rock solid. No app closing, no reboots, nadda. Sadly, you might be on the hook to try a reset and see if it clears up.

I've been seeing this too but seemed to just start a couple days ago. Do you use pattern unlock? I Just switched to a pin and it hasn't happened again but it has only been a couple hours.

Are you rooted or have you done anything to your phone? Or was it just out of the box and OTA?

Didn't matter which method of unlock I used. The only way it's been stable is to remove the screen altogether.

I would go ahead and try resetting the phone if it continues. I've managed to address/fix a couple of my problems by resetting mine.

Even though I don't have the G2, I can say with my Spectrum, I've had some luck sometimes (but not all the time) avoiding a FDR following an OTA update.

Anytime people report bizzare behavior, if they can't determine the root cause of the issue related to some setting, or some rogue program, there's not much choice but to go the extra step and perform an FDR.

My thinking is that not all OTA elements clear existing memory, and it's possible during the install, some stale memory locations that aren't zeroed out end up affecting the update.

Performing an FDR may be a choice that isn't preferred, but ultimately, you don't know if everything has been reset to a known good state unless you do it.

I got rid of tat loc screen widget and it's still doing it. Really pissing me off. I really wanted this phone and switched carriers to get it. Just got it like I want it. Any other ideas.

Did you also uninstall the gmail updates? Run it with 4.5 as it came with the phone.

Very last thing you could do is, remove the lock screen altogether, or do a factory reset.

Try uninstalling the gmail updates and don't let it update to 4.6

Many of us had the same problem. It's not the phone. The way i fixed mine was

1) delete e mail lock screen widgets
2) delete all cache from g mail and uninstall the updates
3) let gmail update again
4) don't put the gmail widgets back

No more reboots

Some others just left it at gmail 4.5 version
