I have a Stratosphere that I have never rooted, but I use ADW Launcher, MagicLocker, and Setting Profiles Lite.
For the past few months, my phone has been randomly... rebooting seems to be the term, but I don't think of it as that since I don't see the splash screen. What I see happen while idling is that if the screen is on, it goes blank for a couple of seconds, and then the home screen launches, the media scanner runs again, it reconnects to the network, and the list of recently used apps resets. I know this happens frequently when on the dock, but it happens occasionally in my pocket or just sitting on the table too.
When I manually boot it, the splash screen will usually loop for several minutes at a time.
In the past couple of weeks, I've also been running into low-memory situations where apps running in the background close automatically. I think Facebook is to blame for this thanks to Chat Heads, so I uninstalled it today and replaced it with a third-party Facebook app. I got a memory usage meter app, but it doesn't report any running processes that seem out of place.
It's also gotten really slow at loading the home screen. I removed most of my widgets to no avail.
I've had a bit of trouble with the battery running down fastest when in my pocket sometimes. I'll go into work with a download running and 90% battery or better, and then an hour later I'll get a low battery alarm, the download not much further than it was, and the phone warm like it was running the LTE antenna the entire time.
My contract will be up in December, but is there anything I can do to make it more useable for the duration? At this point, the only thing I think I can do to reduce memory usage is root it and uninstall some preinstalled apps I don't need. Ultimately, I'll have to root it if for no other reason than to use Titanium Backup to smooth the transition to the next phone.
