Hi everybody, I was taking pictures today, and as I went to see how it turned out the phone froze and restarted completely. First time this has happened. Is this normal?. Is it a problem?. It just got me worried is all.
Thank you,
Anthony.
Sorry to hear you're having trouble. Could you tell us a bit about your device?
- How long have you had it? Has it had problems like this before?
- Is it stock (not rooted)?
- What version of Android is it on?
- Were you using the stock Google Camera?
- Anything else that might be related?
I've had my N4 reboot after taking pictures on occasion; I don't think it's anything serious. If it happens every time, though, it may be worth digging deeper.
Hi, sure np. Only a few times before I reset it after I updated it to lollipop. Yes it's running stock 5.0.1 lollipop. Yes it's the stock camera. I've had it since February 2014 I believe. This is the first time, and since it is aging. Even my battery life isn't great according to gsam I'm getting 2:30 hours of Sot. That along with the restart worries me. Hope this makes sense and helps. Thanks for all the help,
Anthony.
Hi, a little update the little one decided to take a picture earlier, and guess what?. Yep, the phone restarted again when trying to view the picture. I don't know what's going on, but this definitely isn't normal. Any ideas?. Thank you,
Anthony.
Hmm, that's definitely odd for it to happen twice fairly regularly. I shot a handful of photos on my N4 this afternoon without any problems.
When you updated to Lollipop... was that an over-the-air update or did you manually flash the factory image? I'm a big fan of starting fresh with any major releases, so you might find it somewhat helpful to cleanly flash the latest release. If nothing else, that makes sure that you're starting from a known-good point (software-wise, at least), which can make it easier for us to help you track down any problems.
You can find the latest images here: https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images#occam
(Though to be entirely honest, it might make sense to wait a few more days for 5.1 to be released for the Nexus 4 and just flash that. That's kind of the holding pattern I'm in at the moment.)
It was written specifically for the Nexus 6 but all of the steps will be the same - the only difference will be that you want the occam image file instead of shamu.
Hi, so I read it bad part is I don't have a PC. Viewing pics in the quick pic app works fine. Also taking vids works just fine. Apparently that was the only issues I've had. I can't explain it. Thank you for the help,
Anthony.
Hi, Alright am I the only one who's nexus 4 get crazy hot even when sitting charging?. Lately with this heat my phone is running 100-119. So I take off my cover and it helps it slightly if it's 119 it'll go down to 105 then to 97 slowly. Any Ideas?.
Thank you,
Anthony.
