Random Stupid Question

In the future, when I get a new phone, I want to make my Note 2 into a home device (Wifi-only), either to surf the net or let my son use it as a gaming device. Therefore, no phone capability. No 3G or 4G. Just Wifi to game, surf, and download apps.

If I were to go this route, then will I still get software updates from Samsung (like 4.2.2 etc.)??

Thanks in advance.

Those are pushed out by the carrier, so I am not sure. Maybe if you hear there has been an update pushed by the carrier, you could put your sim back in and get the update?

Does anyone know how this works?

Ahh, makes sense. No sim card...CDMA here (Sprint).

I got the Ice Cream Sandwich update for my Evo 3D after I had deactivated my phone, and that's a Sprint phone, so it's possible.
