Randroid -- a few random Android links

All trademarked words.

Can't say I'm too surprised. Many people don't realize DROID is Verizon's branded HTC devices, and not just a nickname for android

I love that you can do iPhone. If I were a rich man, I would buy Moto X's for my Apple Fanboy friends and have iPhone engraved on it.

Hope were allowed to add to this thread DB?

Yeah, please do.

I started it to solve a problem. My problem is too many browser tabs open with stuff I find interesting but probably won't do anything with. It happens after I catch up on my RSS feeds. I figure if I think they're worth sharing there's no point letting them languish in a browser tab until I get pissed off and close them all, might as well dump appropriate ones here. They're here for whoever is interested in the same Android-related topics as I am, and they're here for me if I want to go back for another look.

So, feel free to dump yours here too.

Edit: Also I don't want to litter the forum with thread after thread about minor links, so it makes sense to dump them all in one thread.

Its a great thread idea man. Every day i read something interesting about android but would never start a thread about it
Ive never used RSS but hasnt it died now? Or is that just on android?

It's alive and well on all platforms. Sometimes it's Atom instead of RSS but same concept, same apps, just slightly different protocol. It delivers lots of stuff to me in a format that I can quickly and efficiently sift through.

For feeds with the kind of stuff I'm posting here I use TheOldReader.com in a web browser on PC, the new TheOldReader Android app, and Feeddler RSS Reader for iPad. Each interface has its strengths and weaknesses but mainly I use the largest screen/keyboard that is available, so PC if I'm at one, iPad if I have WiFi, and my tiny, tiny Venture when mobile (or when in bed, since I don't usually bring the iPad).

I also have some feeds that I receive in Mozilla Thunderbird on the PC. It's a different style of interface, letting me delete stuff, filter/sort it like email, and even automatically sends me a text if an important one comes in (just using a filter that forwards to SMS-email gateway).

Ah, it was Google Reader that died?

Yup. That's why I switched to TheOldReader, which was already made in Google Reader's image...was easy to import my subscriptions and keep going as if nothing ever happened. I don't use or care about the integrated social stuff but that all works on TheOldReader too.

Magnifier would be great if i had optical zoom lol. Not so great on an s3 :D
The desktop thing. All my computing is done on android anyway but it has to be touch driven

I'm not so sure it has to be touch driven. Android supports bluetooth mice on mobile devices; I learned about that a few weeks ago, I think here on AndroidForums.

Honestly even though that link that I posted implies that PC Android is a new thing, I remember burning an x86 Android livecd back when Android first came out. Not sure which one it was but I just googled up this one that dates back to 2009:

Yeah mate i meant for me it would have to be touch driven. On the rare time i use a pc i find myself tryin to swipe the screen like an idiot lol :D
