Help Rapid battery decline yet no use (not apps)

Hello

I purchased my Samsung Galaxy S2 just over 2 weeks ago and I hadn't been having any problem with the battery at all - it would happily go 2-3 days with light use (using flight mode overnight and keeping the wifi off when not in use).

I have recently visited home where there is poor mobile phone signal coverage (no 3G at home, only signal in a certain place at a certain angle..) and I have noticed that my battery performance has rapidly declined. I have been having to charge my phone every day, despite the fact that I am barely using it at all.

Yesterday my phone was sat in my coat pocket nearly all day, wasn't used and then was left on flightmode over night and it discharged in 24 hours. When I turned my phone on this morning you could see the battery discharging by 1% each couple of minutes.

I went for a walk where signal coverage is better and noticed my battery decline improved slightly.

When looking on the battery usage graph there was a steady diagonal decline line over the last 24 hours, despite it not being used.

There are no apps on in the background, no updates, no signal. Apprently 71% of my battery use was cell standby.

Any help much appreciated!

Have you tried discharging the battery completely and leaving it on charge till full? sometimes that helps.. your battery usually does get better after a few charge cycles..

Hope this helps! :)

Your phone appears to be scanning for a signal constantly as you say you were in a poor signal area. This will drain your battery I'm afraid.

You may be able to improve the situation slightly by going to...

Settings > Wireless and network > Mobile networks > Network mode and selecting, "GSM only".

Hope this helps. :D
