Looking at the trailer the game looks awesome. I'd have no problem spending up to $5 for it as long as it's a solid port.

This is an old thread, so I hope this is already in the works.

Now that PSX4Droid is working well, the developers of Ravensword are going to have to put out a nice product otherwise, they'll only get the people who are too lazy to burn their FFVII discs.

Hi;

I'm one of the guys that made Ravensword for iPhone. Was wondering if there would be any interest in a port to Android? What do you think people would be willing to pay for it? It's 4.99 on the app store now, and selling well.

Just testing the waters at this point... I don't have an Android device, and haven't seen the store. Have got the impression that there's really no money in it yet... and as much as I'd love to give stuff away, I have to eat.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

There's money in it. what there isn't is many quality games for Android. I've spent about 25 bucks on apps and I've had my phone for just a couple weeks.

Haven't spent a penny on games though (Besides a nintendo emulator) because I haven't seen one worth purchasing.

Given there are so few good Android games out there to compete with right now this would probably be assured to get some of my gaming funds.

Sorry about that... I thought we were so famous even Android users would know all about us :D

The trailer is here:

YouTube - Ravensword: The Fallen King - Official Trailer!!! Action RPG iPhone and iPod Touch Game

It's actually made from pre-release footage... a surprising number of videos other people made can be found at:

YouTube - ravensword the fallen king

There are a bunch of reviews out there, most of them pretty positive.... just google "Ravensword: The Fallen King review".

Judging by this video, I would LOVE to see this on the mighty Droid. Im a sucker for RPG's, and would love some decent ones on our platform.

This looks amazing, and with the higher spec phones like my Desire, it would rock.

Hope this does get ported.

Andy

This game looks pretty great. I definitely would not mind paying $5 for this.

I was one of those people who was attracted to the android due to the open source aspect and free apps. However once I started using some of the apps and saw all the work that was put into some of them I started to pay for the ones I used the most.

The games were mostly disappointing, and frankly some of the games that are selling at $1-3 I wouldn't even want to take for free. Those few good games on Android seem to be doing extremely well due to being the minority. I'm cheap, but I am certainly willing to support any developer who spends the time to make a game worth playing.

Given that the OP/dev stopped posting or even coming to these forums after his last post to grainysand (Thanks grainysand!), I'd be surprised if they go forward with a port.

Also, this:

I'm on the fence about the Android market. The open source thing tends to attract people that like free stuff... which is fine, but I'm not one of those clever guys that can make money by giving stuff away.

.. is so not true, and I wonder how many other developers think this way about Android. It seems to me there is a bit of a cart-before-the-horse game going on with this crap. Devs don't want to commit to making software for Android because they think there is no market for it, and as evidence they can cite lack of sales in Android.... which is caused by a lack of market availability because not enough devs are making a quality product worth buying. Another common argument against Android is the whole "piracy issue", but then I can't recall having seen a single game - until Overkill came out a few days ago - that utilizes the "Check Market for license" code. Maybe if everyone would add that code it would help curb illicit download issues.

Hadn't realised that. That is a real shame. If you are having an occasional lurk OP/dev then note we are not all like grainysand.

Hopefully the developer will continue with the port. Or maybe porting games over to android is difficult?...anyways i think other developers will make the move soon cause angry birds is almost here (full/paid version) and will see the success it's gonna be. Over the weekend, angry birds beta has close to 10k downloads! (In only 3 days)...missing the android bandwagon will be a mistake and developers will lose the potential to pocket more cash. But who am i to judge? I'm just an average user ;)

Well, the game seems to be great, and the graphics are comparably decent. If the port is done well, and it looks and plays at least as good as on the iPhone (or even better, seeing that most modern Android Phones have superior hardware) I would be willing to pay up to ten euros for it.
Android needs more good games, and I would be willing to pay for any good, complex and pretty looking 3d game, which goes beyond the homebrew-stuff swamping the android market! In fact I spend more time playing on my HTC Desire HD than on my PC. I need fresh supply! :-D

So, a port of Ravensword would be really appreciated by me, and I am sure by many others too. I'd be willing to pay between 5 and 10

I am in email contact with the developers because I work for DroidGamers.com and they told us that they are just starting the planning stages for Android Development but nothing is official just yet.

I played ravensword on my iPhone and I loved it! When aralon came out the only reason I did not buy it was because my contract was up with AT&T and I have decided to make the switch to Android. I have to admit one of the only things that made me want to stick with apple was your games. However android is so good I had to make the switch. Now that I hear you are thinking about this market I know I made a great decision. Along with all the other games in development for android I have been reading about. I would gladly pay 5-10 dollars for ravensword or aralon and probably any other games you would develop on android because I have played and know the quality of product you put out.
