Help Razr frozen?

My boyfriend has the motorola razr. He was playing around with the settings and found a setting for encrypting the data on the phone. He applied the setting and the first time it rebooted the encryton code worked fine and loaded the home screen properly and promptly. Then he turned the phone off to make sure it was working properly and then when he tried to turn it on the encryption screen poped up like it should have, he ented his code, and then it went to the processing loading bar. And then Froze on a black screen. The buttons stayed lit for 30 second then shut off. As well as the screen. I assume its powerd down but its certainly unresponcive. What should he do?
PS Tried holding the power button down. And unlike the iphone it doesnt have the hardware button so I cant reboot it. As far as I know.

Hold the power button down, and at the same time hold the volume rocker down for about 10-15 seconds....the phone will vibrate for the hole time your holding it and eventually shut down and reboot...

Basically an internal battery pull...

Thanks, I tried what you said and it did reboot, but then when it asked for the password again it did the same thing. Is there anything else he can do?
 
Hmmm...I'd maybe call customer care and tell them the issue....however I'd leave out the part of messing with the settings! Maybe there is a fix were missing within the settings,

Or he can just pack it up and go do an exchange if the phone is still acting up. Your entitled to one worry free exchange within 14 days of your purchase...
 
Okay well try that. He got a keyboard to pop up, but then it froze on the screen. What a bummer. My new phone still works fine lol but I didnt mess around with the internal settings lol


How do you do a factory reset if I cant even get into the phone?
 
Ohhh I thought you couldn't even get into the phone, and get to the home screen?

In that case as cereal said...A hard reset will do the trick as long as you can get into the software...

HAHA I got a chuckle out of that. I had to re-read it though I didnt catch it the first time.

We are up and running! but now hes gotta re download everything haha He didnt enter the moto cast id though becaue he wasnt sure what that was. Is it important?

You didn't sound rude at all :) It was stupid of me to not give you directions on how to get into recovery.

That wipe will fix his handset though. Just post so we have a resolution on it though. It's good for the repository here

edit: cool it fixed the issue
 
Thanks guys I really appreciate that. I wish I was as tech smart as you guys. But its most definatly too complicated for me. Lol Ill just post ifI have any problems or questions :D:D
