RAZR MAXX Dock Detect??

So how does the RAZR MAXX detect the Dock?

I have an HD Dock I have in my car that I use to connect to my App Radio2..

it was working great until yesterday. now when I plug my phone in to the Dock it does NOT detect that it is in a dock... However, the HDMI works and the Charger charges the phone.

The Set-up I have is an App Radio 2 and I am using ARLiberator which allows full control of the phone on the App Radio Screen that still works when the dock is not detected as it uses HDMI (for Audio and Video) and Bluetooth for hands free and low level touch commands as I understand it. I was using a smart action to detect the dock and then launch ARLiberator.

So I am curious on how the dock is detected as I used the dock detection to launch Car Home Ultra since my Home screen looks squashed in Landscape.

I bought a second dock on eBay to try to see if it is the dock itself, but I was curious on how the phone detects it is in a dock.

Thanks

i had something similar to this happen to me, however mine was detecting a dock when nothing was plugged in... can you imagine how annoyed i was?

Settings, Display, make sure your HDMI connection is correct, you may want to turn it off then back on again, hopefully a FDR is not in your future

I hope I don't have to do a FDR, but if I do, then it is what it is I guess.

If I can find a nice screen layout without using the dock to launch a Car home app then I may just leave it the way it is..

Also the dock I have I took a part to make it smaller so there could be something bad there too..

Either way I really need to look into other options as well.. if I change phones in the future I will need to be able to root it and have MHL/HDMI output for my APP Radio.. or find a small tablet with 4G that would work

That is cool, my limitation is having something that is easy to touch when mirrored to the 7" screen (landscape) I change my photo to simpler wallpaper and need to try it. I was using Car Home Ultra which is nice but has some limitations with the App Radio and ARLiberator (ARLiberator give full function of my phone to APP Radio) I will have to play around some more and see what is going on with the dock

if i had a car dock or used the hdmi feature i would do my best to help replicate the problem for you. it is possible you may need to clear data and or cache from the apps themselves

do you know how to do that?

Yep.. I can do that.. Also it is confusing, but I am using a Desk Dock in my car as I need the HDMI output

Either way when I have a bit of time and I am byt he car I will try a few things to see what is going on

No kidding got home.. tried it and it detected the dock.. I think it is the connection to the phone..

I have another dock coming like I said before so I should be good

have you tried different connection plugs? if you have any that is...

if you have a new dock coming and see how well it performs. it is possible it is the connections

Yeah I am quite confident it is the dock causing an issue.. since I know it CAN work I am good with it..

I really need to come up with a better way to mount/hold the phone in place with the dock too

well good luck to you bud, i know this kinda stuff is a nuisance but hopefully you will get it straightened out soon.

using the Webtop travel adapter now.. works for what I need.. the dock does also work,, I am thinking there is some other issue somewhere causing some of my problems.. I do think the HDMI cable I have is not the greatest ( what do you expect for $3) anyway I am going to replace the HDMI cable with one of a bit better quality and see how it goes

My Razr Maxx just today started acting up in this vein, detecting the HDMI port in use when there's nothing plugged into it. In fact, all I did was plug in the USB cable and it tripped the HDMI dock signal. I turned off HDMI detection; the display reset. I turned detection back on; the display flipped and asked me to select a dock. I don't want to disable HDMI detection because I use the bedside dock at night. But how can I keep the phone from falsely detecting the HDMI port in use?
