Help Razr Maxx - Internal Storage calculation error

Hi all,

I have noticed an odd behavior for my Razr Maxx (Android 4.0.4). When I go to Device->Storage, it loads 3 bars for Application, Internal Storage and SD Card -Ext storage. Each bar is grey, and the various types of storage is shown as Calculating. Then, after a minute of calculating the grey bar is replaced with a colored partitioned bar.

For my internal storage, when the grey bar is up and it shows "Calculating", they grey bar takes up most of the space and it says I only have 1.0 GB Available. However, then when the calculation finishes, my partitioned bar gets much smaller, and it says I have 1.5 GB devoted to apps, then less than 25 MB devoted to pictures, downloads, audio, etc. However, the Available still reads at just over 1 GB. Moreover, if I download even a 100 MB or so to the internal storage, I get a low storage warning.

I tried to post screenshots of both screens, hope it works right. Anyone have any similar issues? Solutions? Thanks!

I had a similar issue recently and kept getting the low volum space error poping up,this is what I found and did that has fixed the problem: I went to my folders and looked threw all my folders on the internal storage and found that a ton of pix that were on my sd card were also mirrored on my internal storage,I selected all of them and told to move to appropriate folder on sd card,then it successfuly removed them from internal storage and freed up a ton of space!
 
Thanks for the advice djclemon. I had tried looking through my internal storage on the phone itself, but wasn't really getting anywhere. I did find a .motorolasomethingsomething folder that had thousands of pictures in it that was random facebook downloads from friends' pages. I cleared that out, but it didn't move the needle on free space.

I finally plugged the phone into a PC and explored that way, and discovered that Amazon MP3 was storing 2GB of stuff on internal storage, and Google Listen 3 GB! I'm trying to figure out what's going on. I only have like 10 albums downloaded from Amazon, so not sure where the storage space is coming from. I use Google Listen for podcasts, and at 25-50 mb each I guess 3 GB makes some sense as I never go clear them out after listening. Is there any way anyone knows to have Google Listen use the memory card for storage? I don't see a setting for it in the app.

I know this isn't on the topic but I do have a valid question about the memory on a MAXX. What is the memory amount on the MAXX? I was in the Verizon store shortly after I got mine and the one they had in the store on display/demo said it has 32gigs of internal memory. I was shocked as I thought that was only on the MAXX HD. I asked a Verizon employee about it and he said that no that was right.

If you are having issues with memory then I'm guessing I was lied to, and I want to get to the bottom of this so that I really know what I have memory wise. Since they sent me a refurb to replace my Bionic I didn't get any instructions or the normal stuff that comes when you get the phone new in the store or online. Anyways, I hope that someone is able to help both of us.

I can't speak for every RAZR Max out there,but mine came with 16g internal with a 32g card
 
Yeah I don't know, mine came with nothing. And the same week I got it I was in the Verizon store and it said plain as day the internal memory it has right on the display beside the demo phone.
