I will tomorrow- if can actually spend good time with the device. Though the display seems nicer, not sold on a big Incredible. Same LTE as the Thunderbolt, so there you go

Back to the Razr: I am tellin' you guys- the puppy gets warm and no real way to avoid it. If I lived in Minnesota, I would not mind. That or South/ North Dakota, or Wisconsin. Perhaps it should be the sponsored device for the movie, Fargo II: The Return of the Woodchipper!

Of course it gets warm. All these LTE phones are going to get warm. Couple that with it's thinness and you are closer to the heat.
It's like the sun. The closer you get to it the hotter it feels but it doesn't change the temperature.
Use your TB (or whatever phone you have) extensively for an hour pull off the back cover, pull the battery and feel the internals. It will be hot.
The RAZR is like holding the internals in the palm of your hand with a thin shell covering it.
it's crazy thin and the internals are right there. It's part of owning the RAZR.
Don't want to feel the heat buy a little thicker handset, it will dissipate a little better before reaching the exterior

I would imagine that compared to summertime temps in AZ that phone will be quite comfortable!

According to specs the RAZR is 3.2mm taller, 3.4mm wider, and 2.8mm thinner. The thinness makes the difference. When I tried (security leash) to put it in my shirt pocket, it seemed smaller than my DX. Of course I have a silicone skin on my DX so it makes it even thicker. It felt the same in my hand as the DX does. The extra mm's make no difference really if your coming from a DX.
The glass covers the entire front except the bezel around the edge (see my photo). The glass has a slight bevel around the edge, where it meets the bezel, so I'd wait to get a RAZR specific protector. I don't use screen protectors with Gorilla Glass. My DX has been naked since launch date and the glass looks out of the box brand new.
FYI, I'm working on an external battery/liquid cooled shell.
FWIW, my DX is beat all to pieces. It survived, but clearly was not designed for, my little paid vacation to Afghanistan.
Oh, I don't use them for protection. I find the Stenheil crystal clear protectors have a smoother glide action and tend to not get as finger printy. The crystal clears are truly invisible on the phone and easy to apply.

None of the current 4g devices get as warm to hold as the Razr. There is no way to hold to get away from it, unless wearing a glove. Maybe the wrong device was named Fire
Seriously though, they were demo units, so maybe some funky bidness' going down in the background.

We know that placing some Android devices in performance mode can fry them in fairly short order. Did you, by chance, check to see if someone prior to you had changed the phone into performance mode?

Ok my peeps...I figured I may as well post this here!
I finally got to use a real working Razr this evening, it was a brand new store Demo! Hardly anyone used it at all, my friend who's a manager at Vzw called me as soon as the micro sim went in and the phone was live!
I'm going to keep this 100% true to what I think of the phone!
It's pretty crazy would be my answer if someone asked me how I feel about it, the phone is just so light, so thin, and so feature packed! It's a Marvel how Moto kept it so slim, awesome job on how they fit all those features under that Bullet Proof hood.
So lets dive into this...
The Display was extremely vivid, colors just pop (super amoled) all in all, I'd be able to live with it! I happen to like Super Amoled, and love the deep blacks. However it's very true that the Razr is not as bright as say the Bionic! But thats the trade off for those deep rich colors that you get with a Super Amoled screen. Some will argue, and say they dont like it...If you dont, then dont buy a phone with a Super Amoled screen, and opt for an LCD...Simple as that. People need to get over it!
Build Quality is very good! The phone is a tank as I mentioned on Sat when I handled a non working unit. The glass, the back, all of it feels tight as a drum. But I've got to say...WTF with that Power Button? I'm an anal maniac with stuff like that, I cant believe that moto would even let that get past production. It's loose, and feels as cheap as a $2 hooker..hahaha! Seriously, that is something that would drive me mad! It's like a Brand Spankin New Range Rover with 15 inch Rims and Ugly tires...Just doesnt go IMO. Other then that...It's well built
The UI is pretty much the same as the Bionic..So no real surprises for me there. I happen to like moto's over lay on top of Gingerbread. Everything is silky smooth with no hiccups at all. Pages loaded very quickly, as did youtube, Pretty much instant! So if your looking for lag, dont look to this phone...Because in the 45min I spent with it, it was an Animal... However,,,,,,,,
Yes my man Rush was 100% spot on with his review on the Razr! He couldnt be any more right about the heat that comes of this phone while in use! I noticed it after maybe 10min...And Jeeeez does it get HOTTTTT! And yes, it comes right off the display. And to be honest, that is something I dont like very much. I use my phone alot, and typing on a warm/hot phone is something that would not sit well with me after spending $645 on a new phone!
Ahhh the Camera,,,Ok peeps..here's the truth! It's good, not great, but good! Yes it takes much faster pictures then the Bionic, and from what I saw pics looked pretty good. I happen to think Samsung makes some of the best Cameras to ever grace a phone. But again, thats me! I use my camera alot, and like to have a good shooter on board. Moto, you have got to do better...So yes, better then the Bionic, but can still be better IMO.
I made a few calls with the Razr, and came away thinking it could have been a tiny bit louder. But that's a moto thing! I went through 3 Bionic units before getting one that had a clear and load earpiece. So I can only comment on the one I used tonight. If a large amount of people complain on Fri/Sat...then that would be cause for concern. Right now, I'll chalk it up as the unit I was using!
So my wrap up is simple...
It's a real nice phone! The form factor fits my needs, It's an impossibly thin phone and really feels good in the hand (I have BIG hands) so some may say otherwise about the size of the phone, But for me the form factor works on the Razr.
However...I have to say,,,
I may skip the Razr peeps..Yup Sean76 may just bow out of this one and wait on the sidelines for something else. That Really loose power button, the fact that the camera is not lights out like the Amaze or Iphone4s, and the very important issue of the phone heating up may just be enough to make me sit this one out. I cant say for sure, because I'm a super Impulsive buyer, and you never know with me. I always like having the newest tech toys! But to be honest those issues may be enough for me to wait and handle the Rezound and Galaxy Nexus in person and go from there. Those may not do it for me either, and I may just end up keeping my brand new Bionic and holding out for an update to fix the terrible shutter lag on the Bionics camera.
We shall see!

I did not check either device setting in that regard, so do not know, but both got warm and I did not care for it. Gets annoying after just a little time.
Added: The thinness does not help and the extra width kind of forces you to hold more area and more of the warmth. Winter holding it- good, but room temp or higher- not good. JMO.
I agree with Sean's display use observation. As a former infantry Marine, I would expect to have a decent pain threshold, but the use of the two demo Razr units got annoying to use after a short time. Again, JMO.
Sean sums it up well, why pay $650 to be annoyed using the device? After using the demos, I stick with my feeling there will be heat issues, so hope the battery is tough. Irony being, heat is not an ally to a battery.

Keep in mind that the display units are in a constant state of charge which in my experience will cause most phones to get warm. While it may be a bit warmer than the thicker phones I bet its not that warm during normal use.

Sean, that was a great review. But seriously you know you want it, lol. I was thinking about sitting this round out also. Yet I am scowering Craigslist looking for someone selling their just arrived unit.
The only other phone I would consider would be the Nexus, but only for ICS and camera. Build quality, accessories, form factor, and smart cast make me lean towards the RAZR.
Don't think I will be keeping the Bionic as the RAZR makes her look like a slow fat girl.

As for sitting this one out? heck...I dont know man, I may just end up wating on the sidelines... I wish VZW would send that update out to the Bionic...If the shutter was fater and more accurate, I'd be cool for a lil bit...Not long though..hehehe
I must say, The Rezound may be the dark horse in all of this, yes I know it's thicker then both the favorites...But I'm hearing the screen is lights out, the camera is on point, and that the phone is lightning fast. Hmmm?

I just can't get into HTC. Great phones but there's just something very unappealing about them. I like every other manufacturer except them.
They could be shipping the first Quad Core today and I would still pass.

I compared it in my hands to my DX. It's about the width of the bezel wider and just a touch taller.
Which is odd when I heard someone that also had a Droid X say they didnt like the way the RAZR felt...lol. I have my Droid X and it feels so similar, its just the RAZR is thinner.
I tried it in store too, and the deal breaker for me is the comfort in hand. Not only is it wide, but it's thinness makes it more difficult to hold, in my opinion. I do have small hands, admittedly.
From what I've read, the Nexus will feel better in the hand (more rotund bottom, softer corners, thin bezel). Are even the biggest RAZR fans disputing that? Very important factor to me.

Well vs. the Nexus its hard to say since its not out yet. lol Coming from a Droid X1, I like the thinness.
It just depends on what the individual likes, wants.
