RAZR to RAZR MAXX

I just got a razr so that I could get grandfathered in before thursday for the unlimited data. I activated it, did a AOL from someone who was grandfathered and I have confirmed it says unlimited. So a few questions:

1) If I buy a razr maxx from craigslist, will I even need to call verizon again, or is it just a matter of putting the sim card from razr into the razr maxx?

2) I rooted the razr already for wifi tether. I remember reading a while ago wifi tether was considered a no no that could lead to problems (ie losing unlimited plan?). Is it still a no no even if I end up using 10-15 gigs a month, or should I sign up for verizon's hotspot feature tied to the unlimited plan?

1A-If you buy the Maxx all you have to do is swap the sim card. That simple!

2A-I personally don't want to root my phone especially not just to get free hotspot. I have the unlimited MHS plan and its well worth it in my opinion. I eliminated my home internet so the $23 a month(after discount) I pay for the hotspot is well worth it.
