Being totally honest. The RAZR, in this particular shot, has the best looking screen hands down. Much deeper and richer colors. Not over saturated or washed out.

I have been impressed with the Razr screen to be honest. I am not a big fan of the SAMOLED on the Fascinate because the colors just do not look natural in most situations. The Razr screen has the most natural colors I have seen from any AMOLED display. Samsungs are just to cool and over saturated where the Razr seems warmer giving more natural tones. That being said the Rezound screen is very good.

The problem with that screen shot is that it doesn't give us the advantage that the Rezound clearly has with much higher resolution.

It was only meant to show differences in color. I am working on some close up shots to show pixel density of the different devices. Also, at normal viewing distance you can't really see the difference in pixel density between devices in general use and if you can it's very minor. Where the pixel density really comes into play is watching media. Its is pure joy to watch video one the Rezound.

Yeah I wasn't complaining just pointing out a small tidbit. In person, both screens looks very nice. Except neither are bright enough for my tastes. I am on the fence on which display and phone I am going to use my upgrade on to be honest so I wasn't playing favorites. I will say that there is a noticeable difference in resolution between the two at normal viewing distance imho. For instance, sample pics I was taking you could see they looked sharper on the rezound screen. Anyway, thanks for the pics.

To me everything expect the Droid 2 and Droid X looks good. Those 2 phones looked washed out, with the Droid X looking very washed out. The Droid 2 looks good, but I can see a difference vs. the other phones.

I honestly cant tell that much of a difference except for the 2 phones I mentioned.

LCD just doesn't do it for me. I don't like it on TVs, and I don't like it on cell phones. To my eyes, real blacks of amoled and plasma make the picture have so much more depth and richness. Except for the fact that I couldn't see it outside, I loved my amoled incredible and did not let go of it until I found a phone I wanted on Verizon with an amoled screen again. I'll give that the rezound may look slightly better for small black on white txt, but I'll take the other benefits of AMOLED any day!

I think the RAZR is the best screen available in the US today. I suspect the Nexus may beat it out when it arrives though.

Razr aint got no white! ;) Just joking with the post, since whatever display makes you happy is the key :)

As far as plasma, I am opposite, since do not like the grain effect, just like on pentile. I prefer a little less contrast and more natural color, over the grain. That said, the Nexus display is higher res and may be the best of both worlds (more pixels & less visible grain). Sadly, I dislike not having an sd slot far more than minor/mid display debates.

A macro shot of the Galaxy Nexus screen will look much the same as the Razr screen. As far as the Rezound screen goes, it is a very nice screen, colors are nice, detail is nice, but it still suffers from the usual LCD flaws. Outdoor viewing in particular is terrible. I will take an outside shot later to show how bad it is.

Indeed - I'm waiting for the complaints about the Nexus' color saturation once it's out! :)

The Rezound has the highest ppi on the market now, and sometimes it's noticeable, sometimes it's not. But it's pure joy to look at, very easy on the eyes. Pics of my family with our DSLR look the best on the Rezound, by a mile. But unfortunately you're right - outdoor viewing sucks. Doable, but sucks...

From the short time I've been here, The Verge, is the only place that talks crap about the Razr 24/7. Funny how I noticed that.

^^^agree! and, frankly, i'm a little surprised...although, it *is* just one shot, i'm quite happy with the screen on the razr, but i was expecting the screen on the rezound to be quite noticeably better.

I don't know if anybody here cares, but this Verge image is not showing both screens at the same scale and isn't really a legitimate comparison. While the letter sizes match up visually in the side-by-side, the RAZR's text was originally smaller but has been magnified by about 12.5% which makes it look grainier than it actually is.

Count the visible pixels across the horizontal 'e' bars of both images. The RAZR has 20 PenTile subpixels = 10 pixels, while the Rezound has 15 pixels (you can't really make out its RGB subpixels). Both phones have 4.3" screens in a 16:9 ratio, so RAZR's 540/10 should equal Rezound's 720/15, but it's actually 12.5% higher.

I'm guessing this is just sloppy journalism by TheVerge, where they couldn't get the two phones to display text at the same size so they scaled up the RAZR image. But they really should've admitted that the two images aren't at the same magnification.

I can't help feel that this debate about resolution is not that much different than the 8 vs the 5 mp debate. The resolution is just one building block that makes a perfect screen. You also have to consider the Contrast ratio, Color accuracy, outdoor performance and Viewing angles. I'm sure there are others as well.

The Razr's HD netflix performance is really impressive. On the other hand The Rez is perhaps more stunning in it's resolution- those stock videos really show it off. For me however, I preferred the Razr's SAMOLED screen- the colors really pop due to the contrast ratio and I find myself having more ooo-ahh moments with it over the Rez. It may not be as color accurate- but it is far more satisfying. And isn't that what it's really about?

All that said the screen defects on the Razr- the black images- are starting to make me consider a change. I didn't notice it for the first week- and once I did I'm seeing them all the time. Anyone hear if it's present in the Nexus screens?

Bottomline- these 2 phones, along with the Nexus, are the best quality screens in the industry at the moment. We can get into semantics about how the screens display a 4 inch tall letter- last I checked non of us were reading a document a 4 inch tall letter at a time. Just go with whichever speaks to you the most.

Agreed, but the image sure was fun to mess with folks ;)
