Hi all,
First time poster, but long time lurker/google search referred!
Reason for my post: I've basically gotten tired of my quick charge/discharge issues and haven't found a specific case like mine anywhere on the net. I hate to RMA my phone since it's just a pain in the ass process for me (always forget my verizon password, etc. haha), but maybe someone can determine if my refurbished phone is actually malfunctioning, or if there is something i can do to fix it.
Context: Refurbished phone from insurance (destroyed my original about 3.5 months ago).
Phone was initially running ICS 4.0.4... but issue remains with JB (just upgraded yesterday)
Noticed the common quick discharge issues that many have been experiencing with ICS, possibly due to de-calibrated battery.
However, when trying to charge the phone, it charges very quickly. Sometimes i notice it go to 100% immediately.
Solutions I've tried to get battery life back to normal:
Rooted ICS to try and re-calibrate the phone with apps that reset the stats after a full charge.
Did factory reset (i think it still was rooted afterwards, but not sure)
Tried charging the phone while it is turned off (charge only mode) once the 15% notification pops up. Continue this cycle until normal battery life continues. If I notice the charge go to 100% immediately, i unplug charge and turn on phone -- sometimes the charge indicator goes back down to 15% or slightly over depending on how long it actually has been charging for. I then continue the process to try to get the phone to a "true" 100% charge.
I've also identified an app that caused wakelock for the full duration of the phone discharge. This did help, getting my phone to work for 10+ hours; however, the screenshot below shows the erratic discharge/charge afterwards.
Once the charge goes to 100%, it quickly degrades back down to the "true" battery charge %.
I say "true" because i never really know how much charge is left.
Notice that the screenshot has a quick spike to 100% and that the duration of the graph is 10:41:30
EDIT: second screenshot shows the phone about a minute before, before I plugged the phone in to charge.

Question/Conclusion:
I understand the quick discharge may be an issue that can be fixed via calibration or other settings; however, what's with the funky charge-to-100% in nearly no time all about?
Should I go back to Asurion and use my warranty? Did upgrading to JB wipe root so that I will be able to use my warranty?
Thanks and regards for any help!
