re-set options?

my android phone capacity is totally full

is there any way to re-set and delete a bunch of inessential data etc? I wouldn't mind getting rid of all the podcast episodes in STITCHER, for example, but I want to keep my subscriptions. (and delete the specific episodes on the phone...) Is there an option to do that somehow??

thanks!

well a subscription is just that. you can delete your data, but your subscription will still be ongoing.

sorry, but you can either go thru one by one and delete things selectively or do a factory reset. this will delelete everything and you will have to start over. there is no in between.

oh rats! was hoping that there was an interim step.

further question re STITCHER: is there any way to see what episodes / sound files are being saved? using a file management app or something like that?

thanks for the help!

i rarely use stitcher. i have it, but do not remember why i downloaded it....LOL

any file manager should be able to see what is being saved and where.....or you can hook up the phone to your pc and find them as well.

follow up question: is there any way to increase the capacity? a SIM card or something? (as you can tell, I know nothing about this stuff!)

my phone is a :
LG Aristo 2plus (purchased 2019)

thank you!

You mean an SD card (a SIM isn't a storage device). If your card has a slot, and if the app in question allows you to use it: does it have an option in its settings that lets you choose where it stores media?

Most podcast apps have somewhere in them where you can see your downloads and manage them (select episodes and delete them). But I've never installed Stitcher, so don't know about its interface.

thank you! there is an open slot of some kind next to the power port. It does NOT look a place where one could insert an SD card (thanks for the correction) but I know practically nothing about these things.

I think I am just probably going to have to delete everything. I think my contacts are backed up and there's nothing of value here, really...

Looking at the specs for your phone it has 16GB of internal storage and a slot for an SD card with max 32GB capacity. By current standards that isn't very much and if you need to keep a lot of large apps and media files on it you're going to be filling it up repeatedly. In that case your only good option is to replace it with a newer device that has more storage available.

thanks! an SD card is probably a better short-term answer, the only capacity-hungry activity I do with the phone is listen to podcasts, (I don't watch movies or take a lot of photos ...)

the SD card would replace the current one, not be in addition to it? so I should take to the T-Mobile store where I bought it and they could sell me the card and hopefully install it. that should last me for another year or two... it took two years to get to this point!

thanks for the info!

Here is a link to the owners manual which shows you how to remove the back and install an SD card if there isn't already one in there-
https://gscs-b2c.lge.com/downloadFile?fileId=ve808Mxj8qxkN1LlmuYOg
This is something you can easily do yourself with a store-bought micro-SD card from Best Buy etc, no need to get one from T-Mobile who will probably overcharge you for what should be about a $10-15 32GB micro-SD card.
Once inserted the card will be available for storage, you don't have to do anything else.
Note that not all files will be able to be moved to the card, you can't put apps on it only media files (videos, photos, music) and other things as allowed by the system and individual apps. Also 32GB isn't a lot of external storage (assuming that is really the limit, the manual may say that but it's possible a larger card would work), but at this point if there is currently no card in the phone that's 32GB more than you have now.

Just saw the previous post where you mention a current card. So do you know there is one or are you assuming? It's not included with the phone when it's purchased new, so if you didn't put one in there or have the store put one in it probably doesn't have one. If you're not sure you can look in the settings under Storage and if there is a card it will show up there as SD Card or External Storage.
If there is no card now and you add one, then yes you will pick up some extra storage. If there is one, check its capacity. If you already have a 32GB card there's nothing to be gained by replacing it with another 32GB card, just delete any unnecessary data on the existing one. If there is a card but it's less than 32GB, you can certainly replace it with a 32GB but you'll want to transfer any data from the old card you want to keep. This can be done with a PC that has a card reader.

my phone is so full I can't even take a screenshot!

but looking in storage settings, I see that I currently have 32GB capacity (totally full) and there's no mention of an SD card of any kind.

Thanks!

HMMM... everything I am looking at says there is no card. but you're probably correct! I deleted about 200MB of WHATSAPP photos, so that's a start!
