Is it a microSD card or standard? if it's microSD, you can just pop it into the Note. If it is a standard SD, you need a USB OTG and card reader. Most cameras use FAT32 which is recognized by most devices.

Also as good practice always have backups from the card in case anything goes wrong.

Also depends on the format the pics are in too. Though most cameras use JPEG which are fine and standard across most devices. Unless dealing with 'professional' photos which could use uncompressed TIFF or RAW formats.

They are JPEG pictures on a standard SD card
Where (to which connector) can I connect the USB OTG connector to the Note 8? (i.e. which kind of "connector" the USB OTG needs to have "tablet side"?
thanks

USB OTG is an adapter cable/dongle. This is not a regular cable as it has an additional wired pin to provide power to the device connected through the adapter.

You can find cheap ones on eBay. Basically, it is a male microUSB to a female USB adapter. Then connect any USB device to it (USB hub, card reader, USB stick, keyboard, mouse, etc). It's mostly plug and play interface like a regular computer.

But make sure it states OTG (on the go).
