Ready to remove the ugly carrier branding in status bar?

I found a pretty good app that works by placing another status bar over your existing one (you can't see the old one) that offers some features you see in CyanogenMod and other custom Roms or even in gravity box in terms of tweaks to the status bar.

Not as customizable as a custom ROM or with root but I'm pretty happy with it.

Have seen that one. Never been bothered by it so never felt the need to install that. I read though that one drains battery is it true?

Never saw a "Verizon brand icon" on the status bar of my phones.
