Real 4g speeds!

So today I took my atrix 4g back and got the 2. The camera on the 2 is pretty awesome and so Is the huge nice screen While driving home I did a few speed test. Suprisingly I saw speeds up in to 8 down, almost 9 to 10 Way faster then what my atrix 4g was getting. I ran these speed test at least 10 times with only 1 or 2 speeds that were 1 or 2 down.. Now don't mistake this to verizon to tmobile 4g but it's showing that AT&T are slowly making improvements.

What are you doing the speed test with? I'll run a test on the Fort Worth network and post it up.

Also how'd you take the screenshot. noob here huh ha

I've been very impressed with data speed on the Atrix 2 myself! Typically average 8-12 Mb! The first time I seen the results I was shocked! With my OG Atrix i would average 2.5-4 Mb.

Very happy with this phone so far! :D

Dude you too?:D My original atrix would cap out around 3 down.

Yea I know . But I'm In a small city In florida called Cocoa. I know there's no way at&t pushed 4g out here.

Go figure. I'm in one of Florida's biggest cities, Miami, and your speeds blow mines out of the water. Your getting double the speeds I get. Perhaps the fact that there are so many users on my end compared to you make the difference?

mmm maybe but remember the atrix 2 has a better radio then the original one. In my web design class I used to get no service in their now I have like 2 4g bars. I guess that radio makes a difference.

Ok, I'm proud to report that I'm finally getting some nice 4G speeds. Ran a few speed tests last night and today and I hit 10.5, 9.6, 8.3 and 8.74.

I thought that since I was running the tests late at night, around 2 AM maybe there was very little usage. So I tried today at work around 11AM with my co-workers and I was still averaging about 6 mbps down.

All the speeds were down. The upload speed in ever scenario was at most 1.10 mbps since its of course capped by AT&T.

What number ms for ping are you guys getting? I'm getting 135+ hoping it's a fluke

OK, just for fun, I installed the speedtest.net app. I say for fun, because I live in an area that just got 3G this summer!

Was I shocked when two of my tests came in at between 5-to-6 down! I tried various locations around the inside of my house, getting as low as 1.1 and as high as 5.8. I even tested a couple via wifi, and those came in at about 2.4.

To say the least, I am pleased with that!

tim

edit: I was surprised to see one of my up speeds at 1564, as some were saying it was capped at 1.

Just for fun, take 2: I did another test today, this time using the massive wifi capacity at work. I thought I might melt the phone: 14.5 down, 10.7 up! This phone is obviously built with some pretty good stuff.

I am only getting anywhere between 3 mb and 5 mb down, must be the area I am at. Still much better than Tmobile!!

Nope. My Thrill sometimes gets 1 -3 mbps almost all the time. I'm not even sure at&t flipped the hspa network here in my area.

Well, I'm not sure what it all means, but my results were on the first run:

5199 - Down
1114 - Up
141 - Pings

Good, bad or mediocre?

I was downloading a podcast the other morning on my Atrix 2 and I actually got 17mb/sec! Typically in some areas I could get up to 8mb/s. I must have found a quiet time. Not too shabby for less than LTE.

Highest one i've gotten so far, i usually avg from 4-9mbps. And then in some cases but not rare i get speeds like these:
Download: 13.22mbps
Upload: 1.09

I did round them to the nearest tenth or so. Here is an image of the actual thing:
