Really dumb battery question

I purchased 5 Kindle Fire's for Christmas gifts when they were on sale last week at Amazon. Since I am a tad early in my shopping, what do I do about the battery life? Do I need to open each one and charge them a few times between now and December?

It would be a good idea, yes. If let to discharge fully, even below where automatic shut off would allow (batteries drain even when the device is off), then the cells could be damaged. So check them every 3 months. And I'd say you're a bit early with Christmas shopping..
