I remember real player from circa 2000 on windows being a big resource hog loaded with lots of garbage.

I think there won't be problem with this. coz realplayer is already available on symbian and now its on android. It is basically optimized for mobile usage.

Yeah Real Player used to be like a virus. Was an awful piece of software to install on your pc. Took over everything and as you say was a resource hog. Havent used it for about 10 years now!

Alright.. let's hope that it won't be like that in android.

Funny you guys should say this. I first used RP back in the late 90's and loved that it was full featured and clean. I had this habit of saving installation EXE's and left it in a folder. then the upgrades started to come and RP turned into this awful resource hogging beast. Damn it was bad. I removed it an installed the old version, and to this day still use it. It's got to be my oldest program.

I won't be finding out, that's for damn sure. I hate everything QuickTime & RealPlayer & couldn't get that crap off of new machines quick enough. No way in hell I'm voluntarily installing it on my device unless I was trying to ruin it for a warranty exchange or something. I'd rather use my Droid to dig out my spleen.

I've never been a huge fan of RealPlayer on the computer (resource hog for sure and hated their interface) but I did try this out this weekend and actually liked it.

The best thing I liked on it was that it shows my music and videos (and pics) in the one application so I don't have to listen to music in one player and then go to another app to watch my videos, they are in the one player. It also had the names of my itunes videos that I sync'd over instead of calling them "Unknown Artist" like in the normal Photo Gallery where I used to watch them.

I did not let it sync up with my computer so I'm not sure how that interface would work (I use tunesync for that).

It's still beta and needs work but so far I was surprised that like it. Never thought I'd say that about anything titled RealPlayer. :D

Welcome to 2010!

I love love love real player as a media library. Runs very fast. (I have the paid version)

As far as the android version goes... its not quite what I want. I don't like that the desktop sync connector plugin runs all the time in the background either, even if its not doing anything.
