Help rebooting and other problems

My Motorola Droid 3 randomly reboots it's self. It randomly locks up with a black screen. It randomly won't open some apps when icons are clicked on. It some times won't open settings, etc..

baldwinwire, when was the last time that the Droid 3 was factory reset? Is the phone rooted or running stock?

It's possible that there is a hardware problem, but it's also possible that doing a factory data reset and setting the phone up from scratch again will fix those problems. Before you do that, though, make sure that you have made a backup of the internal storage of the phone - any photos, videos, etc., that are stored. You should be able to do that by connecting to a computer and dragging the files over to your PC.

Before doing the Factory Data Reset you could try clearing the Data Cache Partition. I think it is unlikely but you might "luck out'.

with phone off, press and hold m key, press power
select android recovery
at !, triangle, and android andy
press both volume buttons
