Reborn ROM - Apps/files missing on reboot ?

Lurker
I recently rooted by LG and added Reborn ROM. It works nice, but every time I reboot, something seems to be wrong.

Most of the time, when I start my phone, some of my apps don't load right, but it's always random as it which ones it is. I can go into my Manage Applications settings and see the apps that aren't loaded right, but I can't do anything to load them. In the Manage Applications section, they have the package icon (white background with a opening cardboard box) and have names like "com.amazon.kindle", "com.lookout", etc.

Also, my keyboard always switches back to the old HTC_IME mod keyboard instead of Swype, so I have to manually switch it back every time.

Also, with apps that require logging in, it forgets my log in info (for example, I have the Twitter app and have to log in every time I start my phone, something I never had to do before).

Also, when it first happened, I tried to fix a broken app (Facebook) by uninstalling it and redownloading it from the Play Store, but it won't even let me redownload anything, because it says "Error download "Facebook". There is insufficient space on the device." But when I go into the Settings>SD Card & Phone Storage Settings section it says I have 5.83GBs of space on my card and 95.83MBs of internal space... So, yeah. I'm at a loss how to fix any of this. Any ideas?

EDIT: Found a new issue, I tried to update another app (FourSquare) and while it was installing I got an error saying "Package is invalid". =(

I've been running Reborn ROM for many months and I haven't experienced any of those problems. Your symptoms are very peculiar. It seems that the phone is loading some corrupt settings.

1) Are you running overclocked? If so, you might want to change your setttings. I use No Frills CPU Control, and run it at 806MHz max, 245MHz min, smartass governor, noop I/O scheduler, and "Apply on boot" checked.

2) I hate to say it, but I'd probably suggest doing a factory wipe. But fear not. Do a Nandroid backup and you can always restore to where you are now. Back up everything up using Titanium Backup. Use Titanium backup to create an update.zip of Titanium Backup that you can put in the top level of your SD card and then flash onto your factory-wiped phone. ,Then from recovery, do a factory reset. The flash the update.zip that you created using Titanium Backup. Then use Titanium Backup to batch restore everything.

3) I'm a bit concerned that you'll restore some corrupt setting, so if it still doesn't work right, consider doing another factory wipe. Then flash update.zip. But then maybe input your account settings manually and use Titanium Backup to restore the apps, but not necessarily your settings.

Good luck!

Thanks for your reply, Razz! To answer your question, I haven't overclocked at all, so that can't be the problem. I was talking with someone about it, and it was suggested that, since I moved almost all apps to my SD card, and those seem to be the ones that aren't loading, that it might be a problem with the card. I wanted to get a new one any way (mine currently is a class 2 8gb), so hopefully that will fix it. If not, I'll try doing those factory resets you suggested. I'll keep ya updated!
